The Real Chariots Of Fire

ITV - 60’ (2012)

With the Oscar-winning 1981 film Chariots of Fire about to be re-released, Nigel Havers, one of the stars, investigates the true stories of athletes Harold Abrahams and Eric Liddell. His journey takes him to Cambridge, Edinburgh and Paris to meet their daughters, while director Hugh Hudson and star Ben Cross are among those recalling the making of the movie. Celebrity fans including Trevor McDonald, Kelly Holmes, Louis Walsh and David Baddiel also contribute. Nigel Havers, who played Lord Andrew Lindsay in the film Chariots of Fire, attempts to uncover the true story behind the Oscar-winning movie.

"... seeking to separate fact from fiction, an intoxicating mixture of archive footage, interviews with the people on whom characters were based, and vignettes from Havers, delivered with genuine fondness."
